Our Month of Gratitude
It’s our Month of Gratitude, a month when rather than complain, we count our many blessings, naming them one by one, and continually give gratitude to God. That we are not in a Prison (now collected Correctional Centre) or Police Cell, we are not better than those there. Some of them are probably more innocent than we seated here, on face value, but God has covered and protected us. Shouldn’t we appreciate Him, and show gratitude?
During the week, I got a WhatsApp message, I will like to share with you. It says, “The qualification that gave you that job and exposure, is the same qualification, maybe better that someone has, but doesn’t have a job.
The Prayer God answered for you, is the same prayer others have been praying without success…be grateful.
The road you use safely on a daily basis, is the same road many others died on…be grateful.
The conditions you went through and came out alive, hundreds have gone through it this year alone, and are dead and forgotten…be grateful.
Be grateful because whatever you have is not by your power, your might or your strength or qualifications, but rather by the grace and will of Almighty God…always be grateful.
The fact that you have a church family of believers, that you can read this bulletin, can see, hear, feel, taste….be grateful Remember, He is the Giver of all that we have, and in one breathe, He can make a demand, and that ends it all.
In 1st Kings 3: 4 – 28, King Solomon sacrificed 1,000 cattle to God. That might be too much for us to do here, but let’s look at what we can do. Can we say 1,000 “Thank you Jesus” to Him every day? Is that too much? Can we start with 100? Every day, say a “Hundred Thank you Jesus” for who he is, and what He has done for us.
In Rom. 5: 8 – the Bible records that God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Unsolicited, He died for us.
John 3: 16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Are you not excited that you are assured of eternal life, if you believe and accept Him?
In Deut. 8: 18, He tells us “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
And remember The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. (Prov. 10: 22). All other blessings are full of issues and challenges.
Let’s celebrate His love for us, and keep thanking Him, remember our theme songs, sing it over and over again.
Have a month full of gratitude, and may it be your best so far.
Remember, next month is our month of Testimonies.
God bless you in Jesus’ name.
Your Vicar and Friend.
